MEDITATION

We are going to start the month with putting focus on life changing experiences. We hope that in the next month something will happen in each of your lives that will make a positive change in your life, if not next month then sometime during the rest of the year.

To have this experience change your life, first you will have to discover what makes an experience life changing and recognize them.

To do so you will need to take an objective viewpoint at the specific experience. Take a step back to gain a more holistic view on the experience. Ask yourself if you felt a positive difference in yourself and your attitude, or were you performing better whilst experiencing the event. If your answers are yes for both questions then the event is possibly life changing. 

Take that experience and analyse it, analyse what had occurred, why did you perform in the way that you did and what does the experience entail in terms of the values required for it. Take the lessons that the experience derives to and has taught you, and apply them.

DO NOT ALLOW THAT MOMENT TO BE ISOLATED. Let the values you had, the level of performance and amount of effort remain the same everyday. Live that life changing experience everyday as much as possible, expand upon it, let the moment change your life for the better.

Let me ask you a question, why do we trust in our leaders? The same leaders that we have seen time and time again do not have our best interests at heart. 

 We have been discussing the issues that we have dealt with our current leaders in order to improve and understand our own leadership further.

THE FUTURE HAS COME

The main reason that we trust them blindly is because we are told to. We are told to trust in the position they hold. Many of behave similarly to sheep, because we follow and do what we are told immediately. We were told that we should trust and use a system that we were told would be beneficial to us.

We are constantly bombarded by subliminal propaganda that encourages a system that doesn't benefit the majority of us. And we are excessively chastised and ostracized if we defy or alter it. 

The way in which we show our trust and support in the system is by not questioning it enough. By

subduing our own opinions, for the benefit of the 

fluidity of the system, we conform. And by not being inquisitive enough we end up with a lack of knowledge which will show us how indirectly we are aiding those that hold us captive.

We are finishing our discussion about the future and everything that it holds and how it can assist and damage your personal and leadership style.

Last week we went through how to use the future as a tool to motivate and inspire you and your goals.

LET THE FUTURE INSPIRE YOU!

With this post we are going to talk about taking control of your future. You can think of this as a way to take control of your 'destiny', but the difference between the consent of a destiny and the future we have been discussing is that a destiny is more thought of planned without your consent and input, whereas we have been discussing the future YOU WANT and YOU WILL ACHIEVE! This future is all about you and you putting in that effort to achieve a goal that you have chosen.

The future is a scary, beautiful, motivating and unexpected. Because of this a lot of people don't focus on it too much and don't know how to control their own.

To take control of your own future there is a need to make use of your past as well as your present in order to shape and control your future more.

To use the past you need to evaluate the mistakes that you have made previously and learn from them. Learn from the actions and times in which you diverted from the now realized future that you wish to attain. Do not consider all of your past mistakes as serious because mistakes do occur, focus on the ones that are the result of a bad habit or a tendency that you have. These are the mistakes that once you learn from and make the necessary changes you will be more aligned and have more control of the future that lies ahead of you.

And take the chances that you have in the present to ensure that you achieve the future that you have envisioned. The present is the best place to be, because the present is full of opportunities that you don't need to wait for ( because they are happening right now ) all you need to do is be a bit more aware of them.

Last time we went through why we are so attached and attracted to leaders that practice corruption and work based off greed and not off of the greater good.
WHY DO WE LOVE BAD LEADERS!
And through this we made evident that we have continually have many corrupt, greedy and wicked leaders in positions of high power. We have had this to the point where it has become normal for people in those positions to be as bad as they are.

Today we are going to ask if we will ever experience any lasting change in the type of leadership in positions of high power?

We as GENERATION Y believe that this change will come and soon. We say this because more people are becoming more aware to the injustices they face and are less afraid to act on it.

Before this time there was no lasting change in leadership styles we see in high positions. One reason for this is because many people did not know the harm and injustices that leaders enforce and the one's that did know did not have their stories made vocal.
But this pandemic has given us time to notice a few things we had not previously seen. So everyday, we are changing, individual by individual and this is exactly the type of change we need in order to change our current leaders and more importantly, breed new leaders.

We are continuing to support the current movement that is going on in America. So today's poem comes from Alicia Keys. Who has released a song titled "Perfect Way to die"

MEDITATION

We have been discussing the future and what it means for being a leader and how it can affect your leadership style negatively, by focusing on it and it's nature of uncertainty.

Today we are going to discuss how to use the future as a tool as self-inspiration and motivation. The future, by it's uncertain nature, is full of possibility, new experiences, opportunities and changes. This although may seem scary to many, as a leader you should view the future as a source of inspiration.

We are going to go through how to do so.

Affirmations are effective ways to build up passion in you and spark inspiration. To affirm and continuously re-affirm that the work and effort you are putting into your cause, purpose and mission will lead to something greater in the future will keep you inspired. Work towards the you that you envision for the future, be it tomorrow, 2 weeks from now or 10 years from now. Work towards the person that you will be in that amount of time and reach that person. 

Use that future image of you as a reminder of your strength and capabilities, as there will be challenges but keep in mind the future you, that you are striving to become, has overcome that exact challenge and because that future you is still you, you can overcome that challenge. Don't focus on he wall in front of you focus on becoming the future you that has already gone through that wall.

We believe that this will help you in being inspired and motivated, please meditate over the type of person that the future you is and work towards that.

We have been asking many questions and criticizing many actions done by the leaders that currently have the power in the world, political and otherwise. 

The Corona pandemic has exposed many injustices and unequal standards that many of us were not completely aware of beforehand.

Last time we went through both answers to the question of if the corruption and general wickedness that current leaders operate with is actually necessary to be in that level of power.

Now we are asking why we have been so attracted to corrupt and tyrannical type of leaders, because without us placing them into that position of power they would not be there.

A large reason for their ability to remain in power is us, and how we are attached to their history. There are many leaders that helped a nation in some way in the past or they are associated with a historically well-led group or corporation. This attachment that we have with the future is the reason why we constantly place leaders that we know are bad and will, or already have had negative impact.
This habit of clinging to a leader's past causes a current situation of injustice.

Another large reason is the fear of change. Because we have always been working with a specific corporation we fear if the experience will be worse if we work with a different and unfamiliar corporation. This fear is understandable but is stopping us from gaining a fair world where there are right and just leaders in power.

WHAT'S IN STORE FOR THE FUTURE!!

Last time we begun talking on the future.

Well, today, we are here to focus on not placing so much effort and focus on the future.

The future is still extremely important for any leader but the future still remains to be very uncertain. And due to that level of uncertainty, a leader should not solely prioritize the future.

Similar to how it is always advised to not live in the past, you should also not live in the future. 

The future should always just be looked towards. Because with the future comes change and possibility and growth, which we should all take in high regard and look forward to.

Careful not to get stuck in the future

We've been asking a few questions lately about being a leader of high influence in today's society. We have asked these questions because now more than ever the corruption and greed that our current leaders possess is more transparent as the Corona virus has shown the cruel injustices and inequalities we have.

So as leaders we began questioning and discussing if we need to be as greedy and corrupt as the current leaders in power in order to have that position. 

In our last post we gave one answer to this question.

And today we will give the other answer to the question.

Machiavelli was a highly influential philosopher and in his most famous work, 'The Prince' he teaches that a leader should be feared and wicked. 

He had seen that those that are unjust and immoral were the most feared and the people who were always getting ahead. He would answer that we have to be as corrupt and greedy as our leaders or even more, if we ever want to reach such positions.

We at GENERATION Y interpreted as, a leader should be able to do corrupt and unjust actions not as a way of leading but rather to equal out the playing field. That you should be ready to lie if needs be in order to push towards your cause.

In light of everything happening in the world, mainly America. We would just like to give George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and any other victim to race-based police brutality or any other form of discrimination based on race a moment.

Today's poem is written by Claude McKay, the poem was written after 'Red Summer'. Which was a point in time near WWI where there was a massive amount of lynching of people of color in America. We are shocked and disgusted that a poem written a hundred years ago is discussing an issue that is still as prominent as it was back then.

THE FUTURE LIES AHEAD!

MEDITATION

In our last post we gave a few reminders concerning the importance of rest and how to make real progress in your leadership position (here's the link to our last post

Today is very exciting as we start a topic which we will be continuing for a while. We will be discussing the future in it's entirety and how the future affects leaders.

Although we often think that we are planning for the future and create goals for the future, we do not correctly harness it's capabilities.

We actually focus most on the past and the present. We use the present as an opportunity to improve on past mistakes and mishaps, and we use the past as a guideline on how we should operate. But we don't take the future into full consideration. To take it into full consideration we need to:

1. Acknowledge that the future is an indisputable truth.
2. Accept and understand that the future comes with changes.
3. Use it to motivate us.
4. Gain inspiration from the uncertainty that the future contains.
5. Take control of it and mold your future in such a way that it aligns with your individual purpose ( We discussed finding your individual purpose in our prior post. Go check it out https://genyouthgen.blogspot.com/2019/12/welcome-back.html )

We are going to start by discussing the acknowledgement of the future and therefore it's acceptance. The future cannot be hundred percent predicted and therefore it becomes very hard to full accept it. But we do need to recognize it and give the future it's necessary acknowledgement.

With the future comes changes and as well as the end for everything, all things eventually end. And we need to plan for when they do.

Your leadership should be flexible and not grounded to the point whereby you will struggle if a major change is initiated. With the future comes growth and development but only if you always save a space in your mind for growth and change.

IT'S ALL ABOUT ADAPTING!

Last time we introduced the topic of how the current state that we find ourselves has exposed our leaders and the injustices we face as a society.

Today we will give one answer from one of the questions we asked, "If we need to be as crooked and corrupt as our current leaders to occupy the same role?"

We asked this question because it seems that those who would objectively be unseen to hold such high leadership position usually do end up in that very leadership position. We all know and have many examples of how people have lied, cheated and stolen in order to reach a leadership position and worse they continue to lie, cheat and steal once they are in that leadership role. And we all have examples of people who would be seen as the best choice for a leadership role not getting it just because they could not compete against those who lie, cheat and steal.

Your first answer would be no. That we do not need to stoop down to the levels and tactics of the unjust in our to reach a leadership position. This is one way of looking at it. This way of thinking is probably the most righteous and fair way of thinking. There are also many examples of leaders who kept their virtue and their values and still overcame those that use unjust tactics to get a position.

Next time we are going to further discuss this question and give another spin on it ( using unjust tactics with just and fair intentions to reach your goal ).

REMINDER!

Welcome back to another Generation Y post. We would like to start this post off by saying thank you to the support we are receiving, everyday the number of views grows and we are receiving a lot of appreciation from all of you. Today's post is not going to be too in depth, we are just going to be reminding you on a few things that we have gone through.

MEDITATION

We all have days where we would rather lay on a couch rather than push towards our goal or purpose. And in all honesty, we know that we should be pushing towards our goals but the couch is so comfortable.

Today, we would just like to tell you that, sometimes it is okay to just chill on a couch the whole day. Rest is a necessity. But you cannot always be resting.

To get to your goal, to change the world, to fully realize your purpose you need to push as much as you can. Consistency is key.

If you are feeling a little demotivated to work and push, you need to understand that there is someone who is listening, even though you might think so. There is someone who is looking at you as their main role model, a person who is relying on you to change their world. And although it may literally be one person that you are touching, one person is enough. If you can change the life of one individual and inspire them you can act as the beginning of a chain reaction. That one person just needs to reach one other person and that person needs to reach one other person and so on until change is made, but you need to be the first.

Sometimes we be come unsure if what we are doing is having any real impact, we begin to question if what we doing is actually going to lead to anything. That feeling is similar to a marathon runner, who is beginning to lose steam, there is only road behind him and in front of him, he has no clue how far the finish line is and he does not even know what position he is in. But he keeps moving, he takes it one step at a time until he realizes that the finish line is merely 5 steps away and he is about to  beat his personal best time. He needed to keep pushing to get to that point.

If you want to see the end of the road, keep walking.

In this time of quarantine the world is beginning to scrutinize the injustices and inequalities that were once neglected. People are beginning to notice the unfair bias that some leaders have towards specific people, as questions such as "So if you could always them with healthcare why only now do you do it?"

The well-known truth is that some of the current leaders that we have in the world are corrupt, unjust and unfair.
But that raises another question, "How have they been our leaders with such power for so long?" Starting next week in our next post we are going to discuss the flaws of our current leaders, if we need to adopt those unethical values to hold such positions, if a leader can have bias (because we are all human, we are not perfect). We understand, your immediate answer would be NO!!!!
But we also understand that we can learn from anybody and should learn from everybody. So come back next week as we discuss it all.

Today's poem is not necessarily the most orthodox poem, and written by probably the least orthodox poet, but some considered him a poet nonetheless.

Muhammad Ali had one of the most boastful personalities known. He called himself the greatest of all time long before anyone did. And as aspiring leaders we require that same level of certainty and confidence in our cause and ourselves, even if it means hospitalizing a brick.

We have been discussing energy. Specifically the energy that derives from passion and conviction to either improve yourself or lead others. 

Last week was all about refining that raw energy into results and correctly honing that energy.

We are going to end off our discussion on using that raw energy by talking about how to guide and help others unleash their full potential and use their energy.

That energy is within each and every one of us. A big issue is that most people either allow it to remain raw and unrefined. And another big issue is that other people decide to not use this energy at all. As a leader and a person who simply wants to help and guide others you must assist these people.

We have discussed the importance of this energy, how to use it correctly and how to refine your own personal energy. We have each learnt and understood our own personal energy. And because of that we are to inspire those to also use their driven and passion correctly. 

We have to project the individual lessons we have learned on others who are still to learn theirs. At the beginning of this discussion we said that to correctly use that raw hunger that we have initially, we have to teach.

And as we learn more we guide more.

A leader does not alone, a leader walks ahead and guides.

Okay, now that's sorted out and you went back to read our previous post. 

You should know that we have been talking about changing the world.

We have discussed power and how we can wait until we have it and then changing the world. We discussed why we as the current youth are the most probable to change the values and standpoints that govern society.

In this post we are going to be talking about the power YOU already possess. You have influence and power. We might not be sitting in the White House or might be the prime minister of any country, but we are aspiring leaders working towards influencing change in society. And as aspiring leaders we currently are working on something, talking about something, sharing thoughts, inspiring ideas and gradually creating change.

RECOGNISE YOUR POWER. Use what you have and grow it. CONTINUE sharing your thoughts. Create change in the small places that you can create change in. It may not be the most impactful of changes but it is still a change. To recognize that you are already a leader is such a powerful tool. It allows you to grow and lead more efficiently.

Today's poem is a repeat. It is one of our favorite here at GENERATION Y. 

We feel that it is relevant because as the world remains indoors and corona has us under quarantine, we have noticed that people are starting to give up on specific dreams and are losing motivation to push forward.

And this poem by Langston Hughes reminds us that nothing good comes from a dream deferred.

Welcome back!! We hope all of you are being safe during this quarantine and that you are all practicing social distancing. 

Although we can't really go outside we can still talk on ways to inspire others and bring change in our individual lives and the lives of others.

Why walk, when you can fly?

MEDITATION

Last week we were discussing how to change the raw passion and emotion that we all possess into results.

The point we made last week was that to gain results we need to be similar to athletes.

Today we are going to take it a step further. Now that we have now trained and have begun to master our individual craft's, you will notice that you no longer feel that raw and unrefined energy that you felt initially. 

This may scare you and you will begin to question if you are still passionate. 

We all go through this stage and it is simply an indicator that we have evolved in our ways of training and leading. Now that you have gained momentum and are actually doing sufficient work that raw energy can and will no longer be used. You are starting to expand in a more refined way. And it is necessary to work in this way as if you attempt to work with that initial raw energy you will produce results at a lower quality.

As you evolve, so to will your skills, so to the refinement of your energy and so to will your results.

Sharpen your tool.

Now that we are all on the same level, let's dive into it.

We have been discussing if the youth can actually change society and the world. Last week we discussed the waiting method.

Today we are going to shed some insight on why,us, the current youth are possibly the most important group in changing today's society.

Normally, it is believed that the young generation of a particular time will take on the values and standpoint of the generation before them. This is known as the "Structural Functional Theory."

And as I've said it basically states that generally there is no drastic change in the way society is run because the youth will adopt the same standpoints and values as the generation before them.

Currently today's youth is possibly the largest group to go against this trend.

We are critical and analytical thinkers and therefore question what we are told. This level of inquisition coupled with the vast amount of information that is at our fingertips, we have developed a new trend whereby we see the flaws that the previous generation have. And that previous generation are currently the one's who possess powerful positions therefore through our scrutiny of their standpoints we are improving our own.

We are going to change society.

Our time is coming.

Tennesse Williams was an amazing poet, playwright and writer. 

His poem that we are about to show is about how short the time he has to show his love to a person. But we want you to take the message that our time to make a difference and inspire people is short and therefore we must act now.

Okay, now that you are all caught up, let's dive into the next topic. 

We are going to discuss how to turn the internal fire and passion you possess as an aspiring leader who wants to inspire others into result and execution.

We will learn to turn hunger into results.

Now that we have learnt about our individual potential and purpose we need to push and strive constantly for it. 

To turn that raw passion that we have within us to results and executed action we need to have the mindset that athletes have.

Currently we possess an overwhelming amount of passion and power to dominate and create change in your specific field or purpose, but what really matters is results. Execution and results are the only ways we can dominate and fully realise our purpose.

So similar to an athlete who may also possess an overwhelming amount of passion to reach a level of excellence in their sport, we must train.

To train we need to ensure that every 24hours that we have is used to improve our leadership, understand it, inspire and repeat. 

We must improve the quality of our leadership if we ever strive to reach the levels that we aspire to.

Meditate on the ways you need to improve your individual aspects that align with your purpose. You can contact us personally if you would like to get personal assistance in how to improve.

Sometimes it's really that simple.

SOCIETAL ISSUES

Realise when your at the top

 "Can we as the youth really change the world and inspire change?"

This was a question we posed in our previous post .(https://genyouthgen.blogspot.com/2020/01/expanding-thought.html)

And today we will begin to tackle this question.

We engaged in many discussions with you and many others and we would like to give our appreciation to everyone that gave their perspective on the matter. 

We have concluded that there are multiple ways that as the youth we can change the world and society.

The one method is to wait. Yes, wait. We have heard many times before that the youth are the future. 

And this is true. We are. But currently we are not the leaders of the world who at a moment's notice can change something so drastically. 

But one day we will be.

The premise of this method whereby we need to wait to be in power to make any real change is patience. Although everyday society seems to be getting worse if we are to wait it out until we are in extreme positions of power we may be able to change it. 

In order to wait effectively we need to have strong convictions of the values and actions that we would want to implement once we are in power. And the biggest issue in this process is becoming hindered, losing the passion you have, and not reaching that position of power. So to wait it out we need to have deep convictions and a relentless amount of patience.
