Beginning of more

GENERATION Y

We are back. Hope everybody had the most productive and successful week. Today we are beginning a few topics that'll continue over weeks. So without further delay let's get into it.

MEDITATION

Today we are going to be discussing the concept of mind power and spiritual growth to attain success.
This topic we feel is extremely essential for anybody, not just the youth, to be discussing. We are going to start with the  concept of focus and focusing on the right aspects in order to increase your productivity as well as to ensure your success.
Now we can all name some stuff in our lives;be it physical , emotional or otherwise, that are preventing us and you from reaching your maximum potential. We can most likely list all these issues and aspects of our lives but is that important for us. We need to realize that we possess one of the greatest tools in the universe. Our mind. Now as cliché as it may sound, the mind is the greatest weapon against anything in your way.
I'll make an example. Let's say there is this person you like. Now the first thing on your mind is , "am I good enough for her? " , "does he even notice me? ", "will they like me?" . These are all thoughts. They are variables that we consider in circumstances. We cannot stop them. But we can filter and manipulate them so that they benefit us, that they grow us, they increase our potential. This is what focusing is. It is the filtering, manipulating and changing collective thoughts so that they benefit. That's the plan. And in the next few weeks we'll discuss more about our thoughts and how to focus on them so that they build us up instead of breaking us down and decreasing our potential as the youth.

Quote of the week

Today's quote is directed at the people who are either in school or in some kind of educational program. Nowadays as the youth we are shoved with the concept of getting the best marks and getting all the academic acalades. Now in no way are we saying that striving for your personal academic goal is unimportant but realize that there is more to just the books. The quote comes from a highly qualified teacher who has taught for many years.

"It's not about the marks, it's the knowledge" - English teacher from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Remember guys we would love to get your thoughts on the quotes and feel free to drop your own quote. Just place the person who said it as well.

SOCIETY

Today we are focusing on the stigma behind millennials. Millennials are approximately everyone born after 1980. This is probably the majority of us. There is much stigma around us and who we are. We, supposedly, constantly feel that we are entitled and that we do not work for anything. We always want to receive but do not want to apply effort in order to achieve our goals and aspirations.
No lie, we are different from the generations before us. There is much more available to us in terms of information and we are able to interact with anyone that we wish to. Plus there is social media. There has been an increase in teenage depression and suicide as well as an increase in young people who are qualified but are unemployed. There are shocking statistics that are based around us and compared to other generations we are improving extremely in specific aspects but are also extremely lacking in skill in aspects that the previous generations had mastered.
The question we are posing is why is it that we are drastically different from the previous generations?
Have we done something wrong?
Is it a good thing for us to be this different? And what are we to do about it?

Drop your thoughts down at the comments section. We'll discuss this further over a few weeks.

POEM OF THE WEEK

The poem we have for you is based on the the society question and topic we discussed on our previous post.
Written in the times of the American Civil Rights Movement this poem can be applied in many aspects of the world we fond ourselves in. It is up to us as the youth to make "tomorrow" happen. We aim for inclusion and acceptance of all people independent of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or otherwise.

Here it is.
I, Too, Sing America by Langston Hughes

_Hey guys. We would love to hear some feedback from you guys on anything here at generation Y. We are open to any comments and suggestions. Drop your thoughts and comments in the comments section below and don't be afraid to crush that follow button. Everything you add to improve us assists us in assisting the youth. What you comment may change the life of another.

From us at generation Y. Until next time.

Back at it again

Generation Y

OK we're back. Just a reminder generation Y is for the youth. We strive to connect with as many people as possible and help the youth achieve their goals and be leaders of tomorrow. So without further delay let's get into it.

Meditation

In this day and age finding time to meditate or just to simply focus is difficult, especially as the youth.
We are constantly distracted by our phones and anything trending. But what we need to realize is that meditation does not necessarily mean that we must sit with our legs crossed and eyes closed and chant "oohhmm." Meditation is simply to focus scrupulously on a topic or to block out the world around us. With this in mind know that we are able to meditate everywhere. If you have your mind then you are set. You can meditate when you're in a line, in the middle of an exam or as you're doing the dishes. All you require is You.

Quote of the week

Today's quote can provide a lot of profound meaning to everyone if you are able to find the message. Remember you can also provide quotes by simply commenting. Thank you in advance ;)

"SO IT TAKES 1000 GOODS SONGS JUST TO GET ONE GOOD ONE" - Man on the bus.

Questions

Remember here is where we will pose a question and try give some insight on it. You can also provide your personal perspective by commenting below. Today's question is (drumroll) "Does race still concern the youth?" A broad question. But I think that is still does concern the youth but not as much as it used to 45years ago. Society has reached a stage whereby less and less people are segregated and there is more diversity. This does not mean that racism is dead. Hopefully it shall die out but currently we still see and experience racism on a day to day basis. We as the youth should stand united against racism or bias of any kind no matter race, religion, gender, creed or sexual orientation.

POEM OF THE WEEK

This is one of my favorite poems by one of my favorite poets. "The Learn'd Astronomer" - Walt Whitman. ENJOY...

REMEMBER TO NEVER STOP SEEKING YOUR OWN PATH AND STRIVING TO BE AN INDIVIDUAL. THANK YOU.

Drop any thoughts or opinions by commenting. See you soon

Only you can see your future

First Of Many

GENERATION  Y

The "Y" stands for youth as this is who we are targeting.
This is a platform where we assist the youth of today  by providing news and information on "cultured" topics. With the goal of inspiring and growing the youth who aspire to lead in the future.

Meditation

Seeing as this is the first post we won't really go deep into aspects of meditation yet. But what will be in this section is basically, aspects of meditation and it's practice. Such as how, when, why we meditate and what we have learnt and gained from meditation. To add any form of input to this please comment below any questions or statements. Namaste
MAY PEACE BE WITH YOU

Society

Here is where we try to give interesting perspectives on issues and aspects of society from multiple sources to create an open minded youth group. Questions or phrases or statements that you have can be commented and we will try to address as many as we can.

POEM OF THE WEEK

We try to stay cultured as much as we can and this assists in this. The title is self-explanatory. You guys can either comment poems of your own or suggest a powerful, insightful, inspirational poem. If you are going to comment your own poems please make sure it is yours (plagiarism is a no no) also that you provide an author name. We are very excited to receive your input ;)

QUOTES
Here is where we try be different compared to other blogs. Instead of just giving quotes from public figures we will give quotes from everyday people with the hope to inspire.

Enjoy

Remember guys this is a platform for you. Don't be shy to comment your thoughts on anything. If you feel we can improve ourselves to help you hit us up.

I hope you grow, learn and experience. Peace
